Dr. Lily Talakoub is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American Board of Dermatology. She is the founder and medical director of McLean Dermatology and Skincare Center and Potomac Dermatology and Skincare Center, with more locations on the way. She received her B.S. degree from McGill University and her M.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine where she graduated cum laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She received multiple awards in the fields of surgery and dermatology including the prestigious leadership award from the American Medical Association. Dr. Talakoub completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford University and her dermatology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, which is one of the leading dermatology programs in the country. Prior to starting her own practice, she served in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General.

Dr. Talakoub is board-certified in obesity medicine and an expert in weight loss treatments that support both the health of the skin and the body. It is a well-established part of her practice and reflects her belief in caring for the whole patient, not just the skin.

Dr. Talakoub has been a clinical educator for dermatology residents at Washington Hospital Center as well as physician assistants from George Washington University and Wake Forest University. She is the Assistant Professor of Medical Education at University of Virginia and was a member of DC Board of Visitors for the Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Talakoub is a trainer for aesthetic injectables and educates other physicians about how to properly, and safely, inject Botox and soft tissue fillers such as Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella, and Vollure.

She is affiliated with numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology.  Dr. Talakoub was a columnist for Dermatology News for over a decade and formerly worked with ABC News as their medical writer. She is regularly featured in the press as an expert in her field and is a frequent guest on local and national television networks. Dr. Talakoub contributes to publications such as Health, Vogue, Allure, SELF, Shape, Brides, Glamour, Today.com, Byrdie and more. She has been named a “Top Doctor” and “Top Dermatologist” in the Washingtonian as well as in Northern Virginia Magazine, where she was named a “Top Doctor” every year since 2011.

She is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of all adult and pediatric skin disorders, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Talakoub is sought out for her ability to make tasteful improvements; her understanding of facial symmetry aligns with her belief that subtle enhancements are much more beautiful than dramatic modifications. Dr. Lily is passionate about what she does and treats each case with care to ensure every patient receives the attention they deserve.
